Is it my imagination or does their father resemble a tsar? I think the famous pic of Tsar Nicholas II was an influence in his character design.

Possibly. Don't know if anyone ever really thought about how Nicky would have looked without the beard.

He really doesn't look like Nicky at all (might as well try to say be looks like his cousin, George V). I'd guess more along the lines of Zog I of Albania.
