Did the forum explode when obvious choice won? I've always preferred Hinata over Sakura because she wasn't a total cunt. Nor was she interested in the boy everyone else was because he was a cunt. Naruto, while annoying sometimes, has more positive traits than Sasuke.
Positive and genuine traits aside, Hinata is smoking hot compared to almost the entire female cast. Naruto won the jackpot in both the kind and loving, and body department. There's really no wonder why compared to everyone else, they had two kids.

The naruto ending was fan service. NaruHina fans wouldn't have been content with just Boruto, thus Himawari was conceived. Hell, personal opinion (and I really do like the character of Sarada) except for the InoShikaCho kids, ALL the nextgen characters reek of fan service. And some of the couples are just confusing. (ChojixKarui. Not that I don't find the notion amusing) My favorite part of the ending is the relationship that at least seems to be developing between Kiba and Tamaki. Everything else leaves something to be desired... and I detest how fans made Naruto's relationship into a contest to be won. I worry over the technical merit of their relationship. The only canon couple NOT to be shown together (Ino and Choji were shown with their spouses, and at least we had some substantial buildup toward Shikamaru and Temari. And Sakura and Sasuke are at least hinted at having a strained relationship by Sarada.) Nor do they have any thoughts about each other (at least Sarada mentions how Sasuke is... distant?)
I'm just saying, the ending left a lot to be desired. Naruto and Hinata seem like that married couple that still leads two completely different lives. So do Sasuke and Sakura. But that doesn't mean a healthy relationship.
The opposite would be ones like Asuma and Kurenai or Minato and Kushina. The latter of which go on missions together constantly, and the former spending time (and reacting much the same way) as Shikamaru and Temari did in their youth.
I digress, now I'm ranting.

I think we all know the most natural pairing is NarutoxSasuke. Naruto and Sasuke both treated their respective romantic partners like human garbage for most of the series. Then there's the crazy amount of sexual chemistry between the two. They shared their first kiss together and the frame of this kiss is constantly referenced and shown in montage pages of their history together. Naruto pretty much abandoned all love interests and his life for a period so he could chase after Sasuke, and much of the plot is solved when the two make up and form a bond stronger than ever before. The fact that the last chapter wasn't 20+ pages of Naruto/Sasuke penetrative sex says to me that we were robbed of a proper ending by Japan's overt homophobia.
