Well, considering the beer-can noise effect they used and the fact that this is a corrupted version of his ex-girlfriend; I think it's supposed be symbolic of what happened to her after they parted.
That is, he must've come across her prior to his nightmare and saw that she's become an alcoholic man-eater type, and that he blames himself for what happened to her- thus his attempt at saving her in his dream.

Ah okay the anon above have a great interpretation.
But after watching it the first time, I really felt bad for the guy. Maybe because I had a similar experience, but nevertheless, this is an interesting animation.
My take on what she was puking up was possibly some kind of liquid LSD or cocaine. Looked like an acid trip when it changed scenes.
