Vaccines contain deactivated virii or bacteria. This lets the contagion get into your system, so your body can create antibodies for it. But, since the contagion is deactivated, it won't spread out of control and overwhelm you. There may still be a slight illness reaction as your body's immune system updates itself with the new antibodies.

The main issue folks seem to have with vaccines is the inactive ingredients used. Some say mercury is in them, which they claim causes autism.

You are not legally obligated to get a vaccine. However, if you don't get it, and end up sick with whatever it would prevent, and cause that illness to spread to others and they potentially die... you can be held liable for the deaths. Same would be true if you decided to go have sex with others while knowing you were infected with AIDS.

Flu shots are the most common problem because they are the most common vaccine. The problem stems from the inactive ingredient being adenine or similar product that can cause a severe reaction to people with an allergy to raw eggs.

Smallpox vaccines are among the worse because they are sometimes still active. It can kill one in a million who take it. Yet, this vaccine is mandatory for US solders who are going to serve abroad in certain areas of the world.

You know you have gone way past the point you should stop talking when a cartoon girl who is perpetually nude between her sweater and her thighhighs calls you out on your bullshit.

Many GMOs are actually a problem, but not because of the reason people tend to spout. It's a problem because MGO seeds are modified, then cloned for every planting season. The Tomato you ate 15 years ago has no genetic variation from the tomato you ate this year, Unless Monsanto changed it themselves. Genetic variation is what keeps life healthy.

Eating well is not a protection from viruses. Vaccines are the only thing that keeps large populations from being decimated from virus outbreaks. Thus, the aluminum foil hat also needs the word "idiot" written on it.

@1669376 - The problem is you just provided a legitimate excuse in favor of genetic modification...by invoking genetic variety. Not to mention one main reason given to apply such modifications is to make plants resistant to the typical problems that befell crops and invite shortages and famine.

Why I find truly assuming is that in a broader sense, we have been consuming genetically modified foods for decades, if not centuries. Cross-breeding and selective breeding can be placed in the same class as the GMO's people whine about today...because the processes are not allowed to fully transpire in a natural way. It doesn't matter that they were not modified in a lab the way stereotypical GMO's are, it is still modification none the less.

Anyone who studied genetics in their biology class in high school would know this.

GMOs are modified every year. Monsanto may be something of a dick, but they aren't just sitting on their asses between planting cycles. They're testing out new versions with better variety. Once they have the crop, they send it out for sale.
Yes, the hybrids are sterile. Yes, the seed has to be repurchased every year. No, that doesn't matter, because everyone has to repurchase the seed every year GMO or not, Monsanto or not.
The only thing GMO foods do is cost less, grow better, and have better nutrition.

Vaccines don't have mercury in them. Almost none of them have for fifty years. The chemical people were once complaining about was thymerisol, a preserative molecule that had mercury as one atom in the molecule.
Who remembers their high school science? Does toxicity change when an element is part of a molecule? Let's ask salt. Hello, common table salt! I'm going to put some of your explosive metal atom and deadly gas atom in my soup today! Deelicious.
And for those of you claiming that your kid developed autism immediately after getting the shot... great job, you just disproved that vaccines cause autism. Because autism has a three year onset time. If vaccines caused autism, it would show up three years after the shot, not right then.

I bet you also believe that in order for a skyscraper to collapse, the steel beam holding it up has to actually be melted completely into a molten liquid puddle on the floor instead of just being weakened by the heat. That the building should just hover in the air magically while the weakened but still solid beam crumples out from under it.

I agree with everything you said except for the fact that everyone has to buy seeds every year GMO or not, Monsanto or not. Traditionnal agriculture wouldn't work if it worker like that. The principle is that you don't eat your whole crop so that you can use the remaining part to plant seeds for next year.
But if Monsanto allowed that people would only need to buy the seed once and their business would collapse which... isn't really fair for them. I mean I don't like huge corporation like that but they did spent money on these seed and they do employ people.

Problem only arise when you send GMO food to third world countries without warning them that "yeah the seeds are sterile so eat everything because those won't grow if you plant them" because yeah, big surprise, poor people are capable of rationning themselves if it mean they'll get a crop next year and become self sufficient in the future.
