Considering how much it was about them, this could have been the most logical ending.

A possibility only in an alternate universe where Naruto was a girl.

And did fanfic writers everywhere cry out in rejoicing, ignoring the fact that Sasuke would've got his ass kicked...

They are equal in strength and ability; what's more their wounds in last fight were actually almost mirrored images - lost arms, and all.
And both of them couldn't move in the end.

The only thing in which Naruto won was that he managed to persuade Sasuke in abandoning that plan of his of eternally uniting people in hatred towards him.
But then again, Naruto has Talk no Jutsu / Plot no Jutsu, and he even became friend with Nagato who killed even innocent women and children.

If Naruto won, but Sasuke still refused to abandon his plan, or simply left without ever returning to Konoha, I doubt Naruto would ever accept to become Hokage, even if that was his dream.

In any case, having wife and daughter, as well as his best friend alive, and what seems to be a peaceful life vs being center of everyone's hatred for all eternity, I'd say Sasuke gained more with accepting Naruto's ideals...

Actually Psajdak, Naruto's stronger both in terms of actual power and in terms of character.

Sasuke's got nothing that wasn't handed to him by power of deus ex machina. The only reason that they fought to a standstill was that Naruto had just got finished fucking up a literal god. Even KURAMA was feeling chakra exhaustion from that.

The real ending

I don't know, Sasuke fought against Kaguya as much as Naruto.

As for deus ex machina, we know that Sharingan is based on emotions, and therefore not everyone can awake its full potential - Sasuke could considering what happened to his family, and also when he learned about Itachi.
And Sasuke as a person always seemed to me very serious and hardworking, even if he was considered genius, he himseld said to Naruto when they first met in part 2 that he (Naruto) should have spent time training instead of chasing after him.
We didn't see much of Sasuke training himself, but it was clear that he isn't some lazy person.
Even without Sharingan, it was shown that he is quite skilled which he owed to being a hardworking type.
So, I never saw him all that deus ex machina...

I mean, same could be said about Naruto and the fact that he has Kurama who helped him quite a few times, and who alone is more powerful than the other tailed beasts.
And Kurama isn't Naruto himself.
Of course, there is his Sage Mode, but I don't know how much that alone would be useful against Susanoo.

One other thing that makes everything actually unfair is the fact that Sasuke doesn't have his Cursed Seal anymore which was basically his Sage Mode, plus Naruto by default has super Uzumaki body.

So, it's pretty much Sasuke with his normal body and eyes against Naruto and Kurama.

By default, this is an unfair battle, but still, if Naruto was all that more powerful than him, I doubt he would end up without arm as well, and like Sasuke, also unable to move.

As for the strength of the character, Naruto never really experienced horrors that Sasuke did; I mean yeah, villagers ignored him and didn't like him, and it was painful, but comparing that to seeing one's whole family and clan dead at the young age...
Also, Itachi used Tsukuyomi on Sasuke as well that night, something that is enough for a person to completely lose his mind.

Taking all that in account, and that Sasuke's brain and mind didn't explode due to all shocks that he experienced when he was a little boy, I'd say he is pretty strong when it comes to character.

So, if we're going to be completely honest, the only reason for Naruto to be stronger is that he has something even more powerful than Talk no Jutsu - he is the main character of the story, and therefore will never lose in the end, it will at least be a draw...
And it's not just strength, being a main character he will be able to Talk no Jutsu everyone, even killers of little children - which is even more ridiculous because such villains will rather listen to the teenage boy than adults.

And to me it definetely seemed like a draw at the very end, if it was Naruto's victory, it would be more like how it ended when Hashirama and Madara fought, when it was clear that Hashirama won.

IMO, considering how often Kishimoto showed Naruto and Sasuke all like yin and yang, and all that, I'd say in his mind they are equals.

Well that's how I think...

Although, to me their strength was never all that important, since I would like Sasuke personally even if Naruto completely trashed him.

I mean, Kaguya could erase Zabuza from existence strengthwise, but that still doesn't change my mind that I like Zabuza far more as character.

Sorry for too much letters.

Naruto still only had half of Kurama in him at their final dual. Had he all of it, he'd have cleaned the floor with Sasuke.

They both had deus ex machina, but Naruto's would have been stronger anyways.
