This happened in the Bulge...
When German English speakers are infiltrating American lines with their fake British accent and wearing captured US and British MP uniforms....

Too late that US English has lot of differences in grammar and meaning.
So that's why the gal in orange hair cocked her Thompson...She knows that the MP she greeted was a German.

Actually on the greeting, there the Jerry spy was blown.
Cause US English was different from British ones, which the German Army was taught. And their accent was totally gave way.

Look at it this way. It's a hell of a lot safer and more comfortable in an American POW camp than on the German lines. And the chances of getting transferred to face the Soviets is much lower.
