Kyogre invited groudon to hang out in the beach, groudon is a ground type so he's weak to water, with the red orb equipped he evolves into primal groudon and gets a new ground/fire typing like camerupt pictured above which makes him doubly weak to water...HOWEVER he also gets an ability called Desolate Land, which makes him immune to water via not letting water moves or weather inducing moves work due to "intense sunlight" and also boosts fire moves, thanks to this ability primal groudon can safely play in the water.
Enter mega rayquaza, who gets an ability called Delta Stream, that nullifies any kind of weather/weather inducing moves and removes the weaknesses of flying type pokemon (rock, thunder, ice), and yes this includes p-groudon's ability.
This means that kyogre accidentally killed groudon when he sprayed him with water.
