It's called perspective Anon, parallel objects should be drawn towards a vanishing point. It's the same principle if you were to draw what you see when looking down a hallway. The lines where the floor meets the wall on either side of the hallway are parallel, but you do not draw parallel lines, you draw lines that converge upon a vanishing point.
