I can answer that leejunne, you see the groom has been doing bridal carrying for a long time and it became tradition, and it also happens to be the brides perfect day so it's the groom's duty to do the bridal carrying thing.

Actually mr.Jester, it's from old Nordic and Celtic superstition that any Fae trying or wanting to steal the bride would have their magic lead them to her last location. So if the groom carried her home, they couldn't track her. Cause their spells would say she's still at the alter.
