The giant hamster is a canon character known as the Wise King of the Forest. Everyone in the setting is impressed at its highly magical nature and fierce intelligence (and ability to talk) except for Ainz, whom recognizes it as a hamster it's meant to be. Apparently hamsters aren't a thing in the world the tomb of Nazarek ended up in.
