It's a reference to his statements regarding the passing of Hiroshi Yamauchi and Gunpei Yokoi. "We will not say 'goodbye', instead we will say 'thank you'". That is why all of these memorial posts say "thank you" on them. He was one of several executives at Nintendo who helped to build a generation of fun childhood memories for hundreds of millions of kids around the globe.

I May not know him but this man spread happiness accross the world and he didnt do it alone but the point of this is that the one thing he gave the world is joy..... (kingdom hearts dearly beloved started to play in my head) too sad.... ;_;
