This voting system is stupid. It doesn't promote conversation. People sometimes say something that's an opinion, not even an offensive one, and then they get downvoted to hell either because someone doesn't agree or because some troll just feels like it. If the downvoting were used to get rid of negative remarks then it's fine but it's not, it's an abused system that only promotes negativity in the community. It should only hide comments once they have a certain number of downvotes, if nothing else.
