No. It seems gimmicky and like it's trying way too hard to be fancy. Then again, this is the series where you could slip in pigeon shit and watch a guy crap all over himself so who knows what it's trying to pull off. It jumps around so much between poorly written melodrama and camp that I don't think MGS even knows what the hell its identity is.
Hopefully the GAME is fun.

Is it worse now that she didn't explode but had to be fisted to retrieve the other bomb?

Flashbacks are going on so the two Snakes are the cause of one scene jumping to another to save time. This comes from Phantom Pain which is expanding on the ending of Ground Zeroes and there's more here than shown, but this is the true phantom pain of the game once you learn the whole truth....
