I'm not too sure about holding the blade like that with both hands, but having one hand on the handle and another on the blade is called half-swording if I remember right.

You know, Xalrun is right, there was a technique used to gain more thrusting power when holding the blade near the tip and the handle at the same time. When it comes to this, it was also a method to fight, you would strike with the gaurd in a pickaxe like fashon. This attack was known as a "murder-stroke" or "murder-strike".
Of course, Anon #1870600 also got it right by using the german name for it. Half-swording explained here, if you care.
