Considering the new cannon from Remake as to what Hojo had planned for Aerith, you can be absolutely certain he had something like this planned for Aerith's immediate future, probably with him doing the cherry popping himself.

well since Ghast got the mother and he always felt inferior to Ghast... Hojo would definitely find this as some sort of revenge against him too, banging his daughter and al lthat.
