To be fair it was his choice to remain unknown. He could have easily taken credit for defeating the Sea King but purposely played down the roll he had in the fight to save face for all the other heroes that participated in the fight.
He also could have revealed that King's rep was literally built up entirely on the kills that Saitama himself had made, but chose to keep quiet on the matter because he didn't want to ruin King's reputation/life by revealing him as a fraud.
Saitama is, quite frankly, a better hero than that world deserves.
