Just a thought, but I don't think the crowd is cheering. It looks as if the knight is actively shielding her, so I would have to think that the crowd is actually pelting them with vegetables and fruits, given the objects in the air and what looks like pieces of something coming from the bottom right of the shield. Could be wrong though.

She herself? Probably nothing at all, but given mankind's nature, its best to say from me speculation, she, being a form of Monarchy, is probably taking blame for something her father did. You know, that whole, the king is a madman, a tyrant, a fool, a coward, a traitor, yatta yatta yatta. Thats probably what this is about or at least thats what I believe is going on.

She herself? Probably nothing at all, but given mankind's nature, its best to say from me speculation, she, being a form of Monarchy, is probably taking blame for something her father did. And to add to the speculation, there's another image in wlop's gallery featuring the same damsel, and she's overlooking a field of graves.
Considering the image depicts her mourning over a field of graves, it appears she (or, as Anon#1867977 suggested, an associated relative) sent an army of men to their death.

The Knight is shielding her from the crowd I don't why. But if you go on you tube and type epic music carry me you will see this image is animated to a very beautiful song along with comments that contain stories people have made up for them. I believe she is an elf look closely at her ears nobody seems to have noticed it here or on youtube.
