That's a great way of going deaf. She even has her ear positioned to get the full effect of the deafening rate of fire of the MG42.

Also a great way of becoming a bullseye. A standing up machinegun is so much easier to target than a crouching, camouflaged one...
And to disable quickly this one, first shoot the she-soldier so the he-soldier can no longer shoot, then shoot him

All in all, a complete stupid shooting tactic. But it does provide nice art if anything else. I especially love the worried expression on her face while he's displaying a more "Rambo action" raging expression while shooting. :)

For those saying this is dumb, I'm pretty sure this was described as a valid technique by German manuals from the time.

Some armies who use the MG42/59 still train their troops to do this.
