I think he drew her so that the audience is supposed to be looking 'up' at her from below, rather than from the 'front', which is why her legs look odd. My guess is she's hanging from a web-line or something, but it's not visible from this angle.

Some spiders can be very agile with their legs, like that one spider in Australia. It raises it's front legs upwards in a sort of defensive and intimidating pose against enemies. It's to act as a saying for, "Back the fuck off..."
