Oddly, this was an actual thing. The Russians started mounting machine guns on wagons during the first world war, though they were usually pointing backwards. They called them tachanka. During the second world war the Germans used a version with dual-mounted forward facing MG34s for air defense, and Poland didn't stop using them until the 1950s.
