I'm guessing the scenario is that he betting her he could hypnotize her and she probably said he could, which resulted in them having sex

Did you know that even when hypnotized, people will refuse to do things they'd normally be opposed to? It's impossible to use hypnotism to rape or rob someone.

that's drugs, not what most people think of as hypnotism. plus you have to somehow drug the person you're hypnotizing, and then you might as well just give them roofies.

Just to tack on to this old conversation-

Without external coercion or drugs, hypnotism is basically useless to make someone do something they truly do not want. That doesn't even apply to something as dramatic as rape but even just using it to give someone kinks they hate has a near-zero chance of success. A person has to want to be in trance and to at least *be open to* what is being done to them for hypno to have useful effects.
