It's not WHAT will happen, it's the HOW that makes it interesting. Specially in the XY series, where Gym Battles are extremelly well-written.

Ash has been consistently shitting on type match-ups all throughout the XY/XY&Z anime. Hawlucha has beaten several fairy types and Greninja has beaten literally every grass type it's been against except for Sceptile recently.
