As you can see, the pelvis is supported by many ligaments. In particular, the hip joint is made of large, powerful ligaments that surround the femoral head so it doesn't come apart.
Gosh, there are so many tough characters next to each other here too!
Ilium
Well, for example, if you can figure out from the name that the iliolumbar ligament is the one that connects the fifth lumbar vertebra, and the ilium, then you can figure out where the ligament is located.
In languages that use Chinese characters, memorizing terms like these is aided by knowing the meaning of each character, rather than memorizing Latin or Greek roots. The iliolumbar ligament ("腰腸靭帯" literally "hip-gut ligament") connects the fifth lumbar vertebra ("fifth hip vertebra") to the ilium ("gut bone"), (the ilium envisioned here as the bone that holds up the intestines). Here however, the characters for "iliolumbar" (腸腰) are reversed, which appears to be an error.
I dedicate myself to this task!
