I'd love the idea of an alternate timeline where they all survived, maybe the Saiyans start a coup against Frieza and they're all spread out across the galaxy because they basically helped colonized planets. Since Saiyans are pretty much the most important species in the story, it'd be opening an entire well of possibilities. An army of Super Saiyans could be a huge threat or something.
