he technically won one league though. the Orange league, but it's not that important. he also won the battle frontier, which is also not that important. Good thing is he got the silver from Kalos league and Probably bronze from Sinoh league.

First of all, it is a pretty good dance.
And second of all, the Battle Frontier is kind of a big deal. Being offered a position as a Frontier Brain is basically telling someone that they are a badass of the Pokemon world. Now why that doesn't translate to the leagues? I have no idea.

Beating just one of the (emerald) Frontier Brains is immensly more difficult than any of the Elite Four in any region.
