Japanese/Asian fans aren't cancer. Only the western ones are.
Westerners (non-Asians) for the most part don't understand Asian culture. They don't even understand the original text of the series. They complain so much, I hate when White people for example watch Asian series instead of their western series knowing that they are Asian characters but they still want some sort of claim over them. They don't understand the characters or the author's motives and troubles—which he clearly outlined in many interviews but they still decide to contradict it. Series isn't cancer, western fans are. They bitch fight like crazy. They have nothing to do with the series so stop making it as if they are a part of the community for this series - only the Japanese are and it was catered for them always in the first place.
