It honestly looks terrible... they changed the art style almost completely. The biggest thing Ive noticed is that the new pokemon released this gen seems to have a heavy influence from the art style of yokai watch, which is absolutely shitty.

XYZ was basically pure shonen, through and through.
There are no gyms or a league in Alola, so the writers/animators were forced to take a different approach with Sun & Moon.

Fans are allowed to criticise the show. Let's be honest here, even if we accept the art style shift, the animation itself so far seems really low-budget. Just look at Ash when he's entering the classroom, look at the shading. The shot with Lillie is the only decent-looking one.
Not just that, he steps on Litten's tail and doesn't give a shit. Ash Ketchum does not give a shit about hurting a Pokémon, he does not even notice. Please tell me that was just circumstantial and not flanderization, because it's really giving me a terrible first impression.

@ehwdihed151 he obviousely don't notice because he was running fast from something. so of course, this is circonstancial.
anon2: that sure don't look great, but that's not particularly yokai watch style, they've just tried to modernize, and failed to do so.
and finally, everyone: i think the show in itself will have better animation, that's just a TV add.

Masked kitsune: Whaaat ?!! there's no league in Alola? you mean in the anime only, i hope?
And without the whole, "i beat 8 gym leaders and loose at the league" thing, they could have focuse on the myth arc, the vilainous team and all and make something with a plot.
