Holy fuck, can you get anymore controversial? Guess I should be glad she isn't wearing a white hood.

From the thumbnail I only saw the swastika on the flag so I came here to say "hey guys, you know the swastika was originally Buddhist iconography that's still commonly used today for non-Nazi reasons right?"

Then I saw the armband once I clicked in and... Ugh. God. Being a Nazi runs completely counter to Satsuki's character as well, so on top of being offensive (possibly unintentionally given a LOT of Japanese don't seem to realize just how big a deal the Holocaust was), this really impressive artist is drawing art that is out of character, not porn, and not meant to humorous- which is just a crying damn shame.

Kill la Kill was explicitly about fascism. The whole making-of backstory starts with the difficulty of saying "fashion" versus "fascism" in Japanese. Satsuki is the fucking heir apparent of a eugenicist maniac dictator.

As well, Ragyo's music themes lyrics. Particularly the lyrics stating that they "remove the withered flowers".
Falls right in line with the removal of weak people.

The swastika is not "Buddhist iconography" or some generally Asian symbol that the Nazis "stole" or "co-opted", it has existed in cultures all over the world for time immemorial, the best indication we have is that it is in fact an Indo-European symbol. The oldest known swastika is 10,000 years old and found in Ukraine.

Punch line is that in reality, Japan never became a Fascist, one-party state, even when they tried.
We get to see this as a what-if rather than a return to a has-been, at least for Japan.
