Blame Pixiv. They have this messed up format called Ugoira that's basically a slideshow of JPGs played with Java, and this particular one has 150 frames at 1080p. Because Japan insists on being different from the rest of the digital world. Ugoira is a bitch to extract, and tedious to convert into any other format.
GIF is still a poor choice though; something video like MP4 or WEBM would cut down on the file size drastically.
