Oh gee what do we have here. A pokemon evolving right when everyone else is a typical generic team rocket jam? What are the odds?! If only I hadn't seen the same scenario like.....a million times already. They just changed the way Team Rocket leaves the scene. I know people love pokemon for various different reasons but it's clear this series suffers from the "Different season same coat of paint" disorder which makes it hard me for jump back into the series even though I used to like love it.

A. The director has stated they operate on the principle that kids will outgrow the show, stop watching, and be replaced by new kids, so they can get away with recycling stuff.
B. The show's on its 20th season with no sign of stopping, so apparently it works.
C. It's not even one continuous show. Each region is a separate show entirely, with only minor continuity references to previous shows. XYZ had by far the least continuity references. In only 18 episodes, SM has had more connection to previous shows than XYZ did.
