I dunno man, this isn't a normal King Kong, it's a daikaiju one. You see him fight in Kong: Skull Island? He took a chain & boat propeller and went full on Scorpion on the big Skullcrawler.

OH HOLD ON! Don't forget Godzilla totally SLAMMED the male Muto against the building, therefore impaling him. And he COMPLETELY MASSACRED THE FEMALE MUTO BY BREATHING HIS ATOMIC BREATH DOWN HER THROAT A LA MORTAL COMBAT!!! Plus, he tanked a nuke with ease to boot.

The someone working on the Monsterverse must be an MK fan cause I'm noticing a theme with these movies ending with the hero monster killing the villain monster with a fatality.

We know he survived, but survive and unharmed are two different things. We didn't see the immediate results after that but since he went into hiding for 60 years, safe to sat it left an impression on him.
