What if Tatsumi joined Esdeath?

Answer: Akame, Mine, Najenda, and the rest of Night Raid die. Tatsumi impregnates Esdeath and she has his kids. Esdeath assassinates both Prime Minister Honest and Emperor Makoto and becomes the Empress.

Nope. Wrong, Soranz. This wouldn't have saved ANY lives but that of the Empire's. Tatsumi would've joined the Empire and commenced slaughter on the Revolution, killing everyone in Night Raid. And the Empire would probably stay corrupt.

But it DOES make for a good "make your own villain" story.
