I remember reading somewhere that the story of Fates (Birthright, Conquest, & Revelation alike) was originally all supposed to be one straight succession of events that are now present as separate routes. Someone decided at the last second to split them into separate "versions".

As for the Nohrian royal family (including Camilla)? They were originally intended to be vampires.
