I remembered this. Back when New Super Mario Bros Wii hit the store shelves Miyamoto was in a interview about the game. Someone asked why didn't they have Princess Peach as a playable Character (since this the the first Mario game to have multi-player platform adventure). Miyamoto explained that they tried to work Peach in, but her dress didn't respond the right way, because they "couldn't afford the proper program", hence the image above.
To this day I still say that excuse was bullshit. Nintendo, mega money gaming corporation, couldn't buy a decent program just for Peach's dress? Okay.
