funny. but no. Besides The ending in MGS1 with snake and otacon is NOT the canon ending. Meryl is alive and well in MGS4, and from what I can tell, I never played it, is defacto leader of the newest icarnation of Fox hound.

...but...but Otacon dies in the ending where Meryl lives. Which means that neither of the endings in MGS1 is canon (or they both are, w/e. Hideo.)

Yes The colonel was able to stop the nuke from dropping on Shadow Moses so Snake had them send a helicopter in to pick Otacon up. Meryl's ending is the canon ending.

Yeah I was worried in MGS2 that this was the canon ending, what with no mention of Meryl anywhere and Otacon's "Survivor" line, but he was only talking about Sniper Wolf.

It was only with MGS4 that they finally put my fears to rest, and Meryl made her triumphant return.

ya know... the Otacon ending would have been canon had MGS4 not come out.
Think about it.
MGS2 starts with Snake and Otacon, and Snake using Otacon's stealth camo. No sign of Meryl.
