And how many times did that bite him in the ass? It’s fine to not have an interest. But because of his fuck ups he went from being the boy who defeated cell. To getting his ass kicked by nearly everyone else and can’t do shit for hardly anyone anymore.

This is the whole reason why he defeated Cell. He didn't even want to fight Cell and was thinking his dad would defeat him. However, he sent him to the battleground to force him going to the "Super Saiyan beyond Super Saiyan" (Super Saiyan 2 wasn't called like that yet). He was in fear, and all he wanted was Cell to be gone and peace be brought back. Majin Buu arc litterally destroyed every character development before it, Dragon Ball should've ended with the Androids arc.
