Chi-Chi started bossing him around, nagging and telling him what to do and immediately Goku realized how deeply and irrevocably he got screwed. He’s been beaten severely and will even come to know death but he has never known true defeat until he got married.

Remember how he was smiling in death after his fight with Raditz? He was happy to know escape and release from his torment. Now the fact that he looks for any excuse to avoid coming back to his family or ditching them makes complete sense.

Saiyan men are naturally attracted to strong, bossy women. They're too muscle-headed and bred for battle to think for themselves when it comes to daily life, and need a strong woman to tell them what to do and take care of them. Chi-Chi, Bulma, Cheelai. All super bossy, all super annoying. All coupled with pure blood Saiyans.
