If he could subdue and hold Sophitia captive, shouldn’t it reasonably be within his power to simply beat and fuck Cassandra? Why is he bargaining and making false promises all of a sudden?

Not necessarily. For instance, if the male here is Groh or a character using his style, Sophitia is a favorable matchup for him. Cassandra, not so much.
