Anon 3, you can't call the nightmare that is Gundam Seed/DESTINY a remake or reimaging of the original series (though it is more or less a rehashing of that, Zeta, and ZZ). IF they ever attempted a remake, they need the divine being known as Yoshiyuki "Kill Em All" Tomino.

Actually, the concept is from the OP of some magical girl anime that 00 copied/homaged/parodied/ripped-off/who-gives-a-sheet.
@anon 5 That's made up fan-boy 4chan urban legend bullshit. Tomino retired because he's, you know, OLD. And by the way, he's a fucking TERRIBLE writer. Great visionary, and arguably decent writer, but horrible writer. Notice how none of these girls, or any female character he's ever written, is nothing more than a plot device. A know-it-all sage, a tragic casualty, etc.

Because if you had it would occur to you just how stupid you sound when you claim the women of Gundam are one dimensional plot devises, when the women of Gundam are deep and varied and show more intelligence in writing and character than most any prominent female character in anime today. So if you have actually watched them and have spouted this nonsense anyway, I pity your sad and deluded little world view and the ignorance that bears it. The sad thing is that your argument has some weight if aimed at his lead characters. Yoshiyuki Tomino's lead characters often are some what one dimentional and lack the imagination and appeal that many of the supporting cast possess. But even then it doesn't make him a bad writer, just bad at making a good hero.
