Paragus never actually cared for his son the way a father did. He never loved him and only saw Broly as his legacy, like a trophy. There was no bonding, no respect for his son at all. He only used his son as a tool for his own revenge. If Broly wasn't strong Paragus would never have cared for him at all even to go out of his to Vampa, but if Broly wasn't strong Vampa wouldn't have happened.
