The blurriness confused me at first, too. It just takes unusually long for it to completely load at the proper resolution, so just click the "Original image" link and wait a little while.

Anon8: Those are the magic spirits from the Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu series. The palm tree is Dryad, the blue chick Undine. They let you casts spells of their related elements.
