She is based on genus Drosera, commonly known as Sundews. They trap prey with sticky drops on the end of some tendrils and hold them close to the plant while enzymes in the sticky drops dissolve the prey and glands in the plant drink up the resulting nutrient soup. Some Sundews can even have their tendrils contract so as to bring as much of the surface area of the prey to the plant.

That said, I hope he doesn't get eaten ^^
