Wow, the "too soon" card is in play fr realz?!?! Come on, he's been irrelevant for a long time and we all know it. In fact, I counter by saying that this would be a grand occasion to remember that Prince is alive and well, has always been better IMO, and hasn't been a pariah for any span of time - certainly not by comparison, at least.

Melsondorf you have got to be Kidding. Nelson alienated more of his fan base than MJ(and his scandals) ever did in the last 3 years. I honestly didn't think anyone cared about Nelson anymore.
I should just ignore the, "always been better", opinion of yours.

I actually am quite an MJ fan. A friend and I used to blast Off the Wall and Bad at work, and absolutely everyone would sneer and beg for something different - it would start a hate fest without fail, no matter the demographic present. Now the dude's dead and EVERYONE and their mother are suddenly his biggest and most terribly sentimental fans.
I'm not saying that absolutely everyone is a fake goddamn piece of shit, but I never stopped appreciating my MJ vinyl long after he completely fell off the map, and I only ever met one person that would let me just listen to the man. It's really stung me to watch all of those same antagonistic people get all ignorant about the guy now, because I was literally never allowed to enjoy him without some piece of shit sapping all joy from listening, like clockwork.
I know, baawwwww bawwwwww right? Well, when I sniff a misty-eyed "Never Forgetter" that's all ate up in this faux-shock I like to take the opportunity to remind them of an artist that has cared enough about himself/his fans to actually produce something over the last decade instead of a slew of greatest hits mixes - funny that you specifically chose the word "alienated." I'd rather an artist have his own ideas than be paralyzed by what he believes we expect.
