This man has far more self control than I would in his situation. If I were him, I'd have taken Asuka up on her offer in a heartbeat.

A lot of men would have. But i'ts not the right thing to do and despite his past transgressions Kaji did have a special place in his heart for Asuka. Thats why he did the right thing.
