Japan has multiple ways of telling others they love each other and kairi said she loved tai but she meant in a family way not romantic. The misconcenption basically started because people couldnt understand that japan uses different words that mean love that differentiates who it is you are saying it to, but they just chucked it up to "She loves him romantically"
