It was bad, but at the end of the day it brought a lot of people into a wonderful franchise and for that I'll always hold it dear to my heart.

yeah I liked it as a kid but when I tried to watch it later in life all the changes they made gave me a headache so I watched the Japanese. Did you know Sakura's cousin is actually named Tomoyo and openly admits to being a lesbian and in love with Sakura... but doesn't try to date her because in her own words "If sakura wanted me I would embrace her with open arms but my true goal is always to make her happy" or something like that like she loves her THAT Much all she wants for her to be is happy even if it means her love goes unrequited. The English version removed all trace of her lesbian feelings.. not to mention the name changes... "Madison taylor?" "Julian?" What the fuck..

Not to mention the episodes were out of order and they made it so that Shaolang and Sakura were supposed to be equals. Well, hopefully it'll get a dub that'll do it justice someday, like Sailor Moon did.

I don't think they were trying to make Xiaolang & Sakura equals, they wanted Xiaolang to be the main character, because they didn't think kids would watch a "cartoon" with a female lead. It was dated and sexist thinking at the time even, but it prevailed and did a great job at ruining the dub.

@BaldurAnthology At least they didn't mess up as badly as they did wish the original Sailor Moon dubs. They decided to make Sailors Neptune and Uranus cousins in the dub to try to hide their lesbian relationship. But it failed and became incest as well as lesbian, making it worse.

It was worse from their standpoint and goals. If homosexuality was too offensive to show in a kid's "cartoon", incest was a bridge way, way too far. Their attempt to hide the homosexuality backfired on them spectacularly.
