Just to rationalize, Obito simply figured that it would be easier for him simply to use a singly Sharingan rather than two and gave the other one to his best friend who could use it just as much.

Afterall,they can fix blindness now in a few minutes even in our world..just slice open the eye,remove a certain clouded LENSE in the eye..and replace it with a plastic one similar to a contact. And Rin did do kakashi's eye transplant during a combat moment...granted he cant turn the thing off cause she wasnt THAT good at it..if it had been off from the start,it would have enabled kakashi to turn his on and off,but Obito didnt turn his off before it was transplanted,thus its always on but sealed thanks to a seal his headband carries underneath it.
