Tbh this would be less efficient than any regular soldiers, their main body is a huge target for pretty much any projectile, as far as i know horses can't crouch or take a low ground to take cover, the food consumption of a single troop is obviously higher with this body.

pros they can carry a lot more weight than a human, and can travel longer distances in a shorter amount of time.

mistake* horses can crouch, or lay down, but they're still gonna be a bigger target than a normal soldier laying down for example.
