This just goes to show that no matter what, we can never make up for what we did to those people.

FlairFireTiger - ... American? ;)

Dont say such depressing things. Of course you can make up by giving your best to extinguish the flames of war, before they can rise ever again.
And maybe working for free in Vietnam! x'D

Im german, 25 years old and fail to feel guilty in every aspect of my countrys history.
Cant just feel any connection between me and massmurderers.
For several reasons im a hatefilled person too, but swallow up everything to be as nice as possible... to as much people as possible.

Its the best an least I can do.

There is always something you can do to make up for it. Spread love, not hate, preach justice, not war, and always imagine what it would be like in another persons shoes. It was never 'YOU' that did anything to them, it was our ancestors and their issues. We can't be held responsible for the choices we weren't there for--I find this piece to be beautiful and haunting, and it speaks a thousand words for the few we can't quite manage ourselves. Simply beautiful.

Sympathy as well as preaching doesn't make up for the price of bloodshed. Neither does empty words, "never did."

True. But time heals all wounds. Some slower than others.
Maybe one day the horrible past can be put behind us, but not forget.

We should never forget our mistakes, lest we doom ourselves to repeat them.
