The FN P90 was is one of my favorite guns as a kid (I was a 90s kid playing Goldeneye 64 and the RC P90 was great). It's such a cool 90s gun that looks like a 90s gun, the 90s idea of a futuristic gun while also actually looking like a futuristic gun. Then I learned about the Magpul PDR. I think it's become my new favorite, especially the PDR-C (Compact) version as it looks like an updated P90.

It's amazing this gun did not get adopted by the U.S. military. It's free of logistical issues since it uses standard 5.56mm NATO rifle rounds instead of specialized PDW rounds being made specifically for it. The only thing you need to buy is the gun itself, no fancy ammunition. They managed to take an assault rifle and turn it into a personal defense weapon by squeezing it into a compact submachine gun size by making it both a bullpup and carbine and made it one of the few PDWs that fires rounds bigger than PDW rounds, and in fact bigger than the pistol rounds of submachine guns, it fires rifle rounds. It's a an assault rifle caliber PDW, hence Personal Defense Rifle, so it will have both the stopping power and the armor piercing ability of a rifle, instead of just the stopping power with pistol rounds or the armor piercing of the PDW rounds. This could even be good enough that just like P90 and MP7 could be used by special forces and SWAT, not just a compact defense weapon for cooks, aircrew and drivers.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want people killing each other but this gun could have been amazing and it's a shame it got shelved. At least it's in Hitman, though it's the PDR-D (Direct) version and not the compact version, which I prefer the compact version, I think it looks cooler, though the the compact version did make it into other games.
